Learn More About Us

A Wisconsin state non-profit organization 501(c)3 (since 1980) committed to helping communities connect all learners with resources to strengthen every community and school through partnerships and citizen involvement.

In December 1980, Stan Potts led a community education statewide task force to formalize plans to initiate a community education association.  Bylaws were drafted and mailed to interested individuals in Wisconsin.  On July 1981, an election was held and Stan Potts became the first president of the newly formed Wisconsin Community Education Association.  WCEA is a state organization committed to helping communities connect to all learners with resources to strengthen every community and school through partnership and citizen involvement.

Vision

It is our vision that community education can help communities progress and thrive by doing important things with less.  It provides local residents, community agencies and institutions the opportunity to become active partners in addressing community concerns.  Community education means to create new solutions to problems, develop local leadership skills and improve the delivery of services through partnerships and collaborative efforts.  Through community education, communities embrace the idea of life-long learning.
